On Wednesday, a spokesperson for Laing O'Rourke said their team had been on the ground calling and meeting property owners over the past few weeks, including residents in Cobargo, Quaama, Wandella and Verona.
They said the clean-up had already begun in Wandella and would soon be underway in Cobargo.
"We've had thousands of registrations across the southern region, but at the moment our priority remains ensuring that eligible properties and businesses register as soon as possible, so we can understand and plan to deliver the clean-up works as quickly as possible," the spokesperson said.
Bega Valley Shire Council has said it was concerned up to 40 per cent of fire-impacted homes in the Bega Valley may not have registered for the free clean-up.
"At least 448 properties have been destroyed, we know a large number have registered for a range of services and support, but we fear around 200 properties aren't on the clean-up register with Service NSW," Bega Valley Shire Mayor Kristy McBain said.
The Laing O'Rourke spokesperson said once property owners have registered with Service NSW, someone from the team would be in touch to make an appointment for an inspection to assess the property and agree to the scope of clean-up works.
"There are a lot of people to get to, but we are moving as quickly as we can," they said.
The spokesperson said after an inspection is completed, Laing O'Rourke would work with local subcontractors to arrange for the clean-up to begin.
"We are working with the local supply chain to get the job done as quickly as possible with the intention to get the majority of works completed by June this year," they said.
The NSW Bushfire clean-up program is opt-in and free of charge for eligible property owners, with the NSW government and the commonwealth jointly covering the clean-up costs.
Anyone who is still yet to register is encouraged to log on to the Service NSW website by clicking here or calling Service NSW on 137 788 to lodge their property.
