Officially called the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements, it is examining how Australia is prepared and coordinated across levels of government to respond to bushfires and other natural disasters as well as mitigation and recovery.
Chair Mark Binskin AC and Commissioners Annabelle Bennett AC, SC and Professor Andrew Macintosh have been travelling the country and holding community forums with small groups of people in each location who are representative of the communities affected by the fires.
The commission is holding such forums in Bega on Wednesday and in Eden on Thursday.
At the forum in Eden, Bega Valley Shire Mayor Kristy McBain will formally present council's submission to the commission.
