Bennett knocked a match best 102 runs as Tathra pulled together 210 runs from their innings to defeat the Meirmbula Knights at Lawrence Park on Saturday.

After captain Chris Dwyer had been dismissed for a duck, Bennett made a stellar recovery and went on to shine in the innings, while the Knights managed to clean up a handful of cheap wickets.

Shannon Grass knocked 12 before he was dismissed, while Adam Blacka was returned to the sheds on just five runs and Tom Taylor was caught for a duck.

Ben O'Reilly was starting to build a presence at the crease when he was dismissed for 10 off an lbw call on the bowling of Ash Postance.

However, Jayden Heyhorn provided a brilliant anchor for Bennett with the pair building an 82-run partnership as Heyhorn climbed to a half-century, caught by Dylan Lawson on 50.

The Knights couldn't chase down the target, finishing on 9/157 with Postance scoring a team-best of 34 runs.

The result guarantees Tathra the minor premiership with an unassailable 14-point lead from the Pambula Bluedogs who are now holding second with a four-point advantage from the Knights.

Bennnett now sits second on the table for leading run scorers this season behind Eden's Matt Bell.

However, Bennett is also sitting third on the tally of best wicket takers with 19 to his name this season.

Second with just one round remaining in the regular season is Merimbula's Mikael Hulme with 20, while Pambula's Morgan Jackson has taken charge with 21 wickets so far this season.

The women's competition also enjoyed their second round on Sunday with three games going ahead.

Bega-Angledale went down to the strong South Eurobodalla outfit on Sunday, but the Bulls were buoyed by a hat-trick to Megan Brens.

Competition officials congratulated Brens on her effort, being the first triple for the women's competition.

Despite the cleanout of wickets, the Pirates managed 74 with Bega falling five runs short scoring 69 on their chase.

Tathra scored a victory over the Kameruka club at Bega's Roy Howard Oval.
