The fire was reported around 8am on Clarkes Rd, but NSW Rural Fire Service public liaison officer Marty Webster said it was a "flare up" that was within the 315,000ha Badja Forest Road fire's burn area.
He said an aircraft would be monitoring the Clarkes Road fire, but as the RFS believed it was inside the burnt area it would most likely be allowed to burn itself out.
"We're likely to see things like this pop up over the coming days," he said.
"We know there are hotspots around, hollow logs that are still burning or places that have been sheltered from the rains.
"If we can get to them easily we will put them out, but if they are well within the containment lines it's often best to let them burn out."
Mr Webster said if residents see a sign of fire that could be a threat to an asset or was close to a containment line they should report it to Triple Zero (000).
However if it was smoke in the vicinity or well inside the burnt edge, it was probably not necessary to report it, he said.
"But if they have any concerns, it's always safest to report it," he said.
