Andrew Blanch has been described by the Melbourne Guitar Foundation as "one of Australia's foremost classical guitarists".
He has excelled on the competition circuit with over 10 major prizes and tours both in Australia and overseas.
Melbourne-born Ariel Nurhadi is a Sydney-based classical guitarist.
His diverse collaborations to date have included Llewellyn Quartet, an opera production of Dido and Aeneas, the clarinet-guitar ensemble Duo Divan and Canberra's 2015 Voices in the Forest with José Carb and Diego Torre of Opera Australia.
Blanch (winner of the 2016 Melbourne Guitar Festival Concert Artist Competition) and Nurhadi have been playing as a guitar duo since 2014.
They have been described as "two stunning young guitarists...virtuosic" (Sydney Arts Guide) and have been praised for their "dazzling guitar playing" (ArtsHub).
Their current project, entitled Alchemy, is named after the first piece they learnt to play together by the late Australian guitarist and composer Phillp Houghton.
Alchemy is something of a "world tour" and this concert will feature some of the finest music written/arranged for guitar duet, with masterpieces from France, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, USA, and Australia, including Houghton's acclaimed Three Duets that encapsulates Alchemy.
The duo is scheduled to record the program later this year for national release, but this weekend you will enjoy the opportunity to see and hear them live on the Far South Coast.
In recognition of the recent bushfires experienced in the last month, the Sapphire Coast Music Society is allocating free tickets to residents of Mallacoota, Quaama and Cobargo.
This modest gesture will hopefully give residents of those affected towns some relief from what has been for them a terrible experience.
The performance will be held on Sunday, February 16, at 2.30pm at Wolumla Hall.
Tickets can be purchased at www.trybooking.com as well as Candelo Books (Bega), Brief Affairs Lingerie Boutique (Merimbula), or at the door. T
ickets are $25 and students are admitted free.
