Mr Ubrihien said he and his wife were shocked to receive a letter from royalty, which arrived from Buckingham Palace just before the anniversary and brought out as a surprise during the dinner celebrations.
The couple met while ballroom dancing at halls across the Bega Valley and were married the same day as two other couples in Bega in 1960.
"Lorna wouldn't marry anyone who didn't dance. We went everywhere dancing," Mr Ubrihien said.
"We became really good friends with one another."
The happy couple also received letters of congratulations from Australian governor-general David Hurley, the prime minister Scott Morrison, NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian, and Bega MP Andrew Constance.
