The first full week into the New Year saw strong numbers contesting rounds of golf at the Bega course on both Thursday and Saturday.

Thursday saw another strong field contest a Single Stableford event with Gerard Hergenhan the winner with 42 points, just ahead of John Turner on 38 points. Balls were awarded down to 34 points.
Saturday's event was the R&P Plumbing monthly medal with support from club member Rob Whitford.
With a wonderful crowd and excellent scores, the medal winner was B grade member Terry Allen with a great nett 66.
A grade was won by Len Brown with nett 68, while C grade was won by Garry Cooper with nett 70. Balls went down to Nett 74.
Nearest the pins winners are the ninth C Delamare, D Meredith and G Bethell and 12th golden shot Will Ubrihien, 15th C Delamare and Wayne Ubrihien and the 17th to P Newton, S Jones and G Cooper.
The 18th was A Dick.
The round on Saturday is a single stableford medley event with everyone encouraged to grab a partner and head along to enjoy a day on the course.
A special charity round will run on Sunday and golfers from across the Shire are invited to take part.
The Pambula-Merimbula Golf Club will play host to the charity round on Sunday from 10am with proceeds from the day going to the Bega Red Cross for distribution locally.
Club officials said it had been incredibly saddening to see the loss of life and property around the Bega Valley in the past two weeks.
A spokeswoman for the club said it had also taken a toll on the tourism industry with members noting a number of local businesses struggling throughout the shire.

The Australian Golf Industry Council are also working to raise funds and welcomed news of clubs holding their own fundraisers.
"Our industry is heartbroken at the devastation that has been caused by these fires,'' said Gavin Kirkman, chair of the AGIC.
