At the Dodd & Dwyer Merimbula Pharmacy they are asking for a small donation such as $5 or whatever people can afford which will go towards to the RFS.
Pharmacist Linda Badewitz Dodd said that already around $3000 had been raised.
"People should remember that a single mask does not last forever, for example anyone out last Sunday would have about five hours of continuous use," Ms Badewitz Dodd said.
She recommended that children and those with heart and lung conditions stay inside as much as possible.
P2/N95 rated face masks can filter out the fine particles in smoke but wearing a mask can make it harder to breathe something anyone with heart or lung conditions should take into consideration.
The mask should form a tight seal around the face. people with beards should shave to ensure a good fit around the face.
