Two trucks and a van filled with donations of essential items have just arrived at the Bega Showground evacuation centre thanks to the generosity of Canberrans.
On Thursday as evacuees were getting ready for an evening meal and another uncertain night, welcome relief arrived.
One of the drivers, Scott Reid, said he had his six-pallet truck, a mate's eight-tonne tipper and a people mover van "full to the hilt" with food, water and drinks, toilet paper, baby wipes, sanitary items and plenty more.
"You name it we've got it - the evacuation centre is chockers now!" he told Australian Community Media.
The generosity stemmed from Andrew Dale, owner of the iconic G Spot burger van in Gungahlin.
"As soon as Andrew heard about the fires in the Bega Valley he put the call out on Facebook.
"There was a pick up spot in Mitchell and the Canberra community came out in their hundreds."
