Laurie Andrew, 70, died outside his home at Yatte Yattah during the bushfire which swept through Yatte Yattah and Conjola Park on New Year's Eve.
The Daily Telegraph reported that police said his body had no trauma or significant burns, and they did not believe there were any suspicious circumstances involved.
Laurie started his working life as a 17-year-old on the original Porters Creek Dam project in 1967 and was instrumental as a Shoalhaven Water site supervisor in the upgrade that was opened in 2017.
But his friends will remember him for what he brought to the social surfing club.
"He will be remembered as a stylish surfer, a purveyor of great music and all round great bloke," Mollymook Longboarders spokesperson president Michael Yule said.
"We send our condolences to his loved ones."
