The world's longest surfboat rowing contest will be fought from Sunday, December 29, over seven days and seven legs, with competitors from around Australia and New Zealand.
The first marathon was in 1975 and surf skiers have since been added to the mix.
From a Queensland paddler carrying the ashes of a deceased mate, to women out to claim a third crown, the Bass has plenty of stories.
A group of Kiwi Meercats are daring to poke their head above the Bass Parapet. They have worked hard to get across the Tasman and intend to work harder to get to Eden.
And the men from Bulli have every intention of winning a successive title - if not of remaining fully clothed.
The event is held every two years. We will bring you the 2019/20 action.
