Blake William Banner of Tarraganda appeared in Bega Local Court on Tuesday, December 17, charged with seven counts of cause fire and be reckless to its spread.
According to court documents seven fires were allegedly started at several sites between Bega and Doctor George Mountain Rd at Tarraganda over October and November.
Jennifer Chalker, who was appearing as Banner's solicitor on Tuesday, entered the plea of not guilty on his behalf and requested his bail conditions to be varied so he no longer had to report to police every day.
The request was unopposed by the police prosecutor who said Banner had "reported every single day without fail" since bail was granted in his first court appearance over the matter last month and the variation was approved by Magistrate Doug Dick.
The prosecutor said "there will be quite a bit of material" in relation to the case and Magistrate Dick said he would allow for four weeks for the brief to be prepared.
Banner, neatly dressed and wearing a tie, did not speak during the proceedings and quickly exited the court house into a car parked outside the building once the hearing had concluded.
The case was adjourned to January 21.
