At council's meeting this Wednesday, council staff will recommended level one restrictions be temporarily brought in for Bemboka due to the continuing decline of water in Cochrane Dam.
Level one restrictions include using a hand-held hose to water a property's garden or lawn only between 6-8am and 6-8pm, a policy that also applies to washing vehicles, boats and topping up swimming pools.
In the meeting's agenda staff state the 2700megalitre Cochrane Dam recently reached its drought reserve level of 500ML and due to a lack of rainfall has continued to decline to below 17 per cent.
The privately-owned dam is a hydro-electricity generation facility and about 3.5ML of water is released each day for Bemboka's supply, environmental flows, irrigation and stock and domestic use.
Staff said the average of 0.18ML released for the town per day represented a "relatively small" proportion of overall use, but due to the continued dry conditions, diminishing storage and reduced flows in the system they recommended restrictions be introduced.
In other another matter to come before council at the meeting, council staff have recommended establishing an alcohol-free zone in Biamanga National Park for a four-year period.
The zone would cover the popular Mumbulla Falls waterhole and picnic area.
A public exhibition period on the issue recently concluded, with six submissions in support of the proposal and one against it being received on council's website.
Also, staff will recommend councillors endorse the draft Bega Valley Swimming Pools Strategy for public exhibition.
Staff have been working on the strategy with the goal of retaining the shire's six pools and the motion in the upcoming meeting follows council's controversial decision last month to notify the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of its intention to apply for a special rate variation to maintain and upgrade the pools.
Council staff said the draft strategy has been based on this recent resolution to apply for the SRV.
Finally, councillors will be asked to approved council's preferred tenderer for the next stage of the Tathra to Kalaru bike track.
Five companies applied to construct the section, which is about 2.5km from the bottom of Evans Hill to Kilarney St, Tathra.
