It started with just a couple of sets of lights and a few decorations and has continued to grow to nearly three kilometres of lights and decorations adorning the home this year.

Initially the Bennett's donated all the proceeds to the Starlight Foundation, but in recent years they have chosen local people to help out.

This year they have chosen to donate the proceeds raised from people visiting their Christmas lights to the Scrymgeour family of Cobargo who lost their home to fire in September this year.

"It was Saturday, September 7 my wife Kim and I had a late breakfast, it was midday and we were sitting around the fire because it was so cold," Glen Scrymgeour said.

"Our eight week old blue cattle pup started carrying on, wandering around with her head in the air sniffing, running backwards and forwards to the door.

"Kim asked me 'what is that dog carrying on about?' I said I don't know, it's mad I think, then I could smell smoke and went outside for a look and saw smoke coming over the hill right at us.

"The smoke changed from grey to red smoke in seconds as it rushed up the hill and when it got to the top of the hill it spat out a fire ball, it was like it was raining fire and our property was on fire everywhere.

"We just had to go, so we grabbed the washing basket, photos, the doona and pillows and our little dog and left.

"Half an hour there was nothing left," he said.

Mr Bennett urged people to come along and check out their amazing Christmas Light display at 52 Warbler Crescent, North Narooma.

"Santa will be popping in each evening on the 12 nights leading into Christmas and he will have lollies and glow sticks for the children.

"Three nights before Christmas, we will be having a sausage sizzle and the ice-cream van and on Christmas Eve there will be musical entertainment too," Mr Bennett said.

"Please dig deep for the Scrymgeour's and come along and check out our lights."
