The fire started at McPauls Rd, Wolumla, but crews on eight fire trucks brought it under control by 1pm.
"It put up a bit of smoke for a while and had some potential, but we had a quick response and caught it," community safety officer Marty Webster said.
Mr Webster said there had been no breaches of the total fire ban in the Bega Valley earlier in the week, but in the Eurobodalla he knew there were a few people who had been visited by police and would be "wearing the consequences of not obeying" the ban.
"We do have a zero tolerance approach to total fire ban conditions," he said.
He urged the public to remain aware of conditions, saying even days with "high" or "very high" fire danger ratings were still dangerous days.
"We're in the grasp of a very severe drought and any fire has potential," he said.
The fire danger rating for the Bega Valley on Thursday was "high".
