The highlight feature of the November shoot at Bega Gun Club was the final round of the Fimac Engineering Handicap Shield. Sponsored by club president Shane Platts four rounds of twenty-five targets are shot throughout the year with the winner being announced at the December Christmas shoot. The trophy is one of the most sought-after on the club's calendar.

In 2020, the format will change to a 100 target event as part of the Club's program re-arrangements, with a significant upgrade to the already handy prizes on offer.
Clouds and a chance of rain greeted the 24 participants who attended with the program opening with fifty targets double barrel point score.
Regular Cooma visitor, Steve McIntyre took out AA Grade after he and Charlie Smith finished the main round with 144/150, Steve winning the shoot off 177/183 to Charlie's 176/183. Craig Field was successful in A Grade, with a score of 142/150. Shane Platts took second with a score of 139/150. Mark Evans comfortably cleaned up the combined B/C Grade with a fine score of 143/150, with the ever consistent Bert Deacon in second, 135/150.
The final Fimac round saw A Grader, Rodney Bresnan drop only one target off his 21metre mark to win,24/25. AA Grader, Charlie Smith, shooting off 24m took second place with a score of 23/25 whilst A Grader, James Body collected third place with a score of 34/37 from his 20 metre mark with , following a shoot-off with Tom Peadon, Steve McIntyre and John Siede.
The final event dished up on the day's program was a 25T Continental. Steve McIntyre and Peter Simon took an extra two targets to sort AA Grade with Steve winning 26/27, after both finished the main course on 24/25. Ray Welch cleaned up A Grade with a fine score of 24/25. James Body, John Gray and Rodney Bresnan took three extra targets to decide second with James successful 26/28.
B/C grade proved entertaining, with Bert Deacon, Mark Evans and John Walker finishing on 23/25.
Bert graciously retired first to leave the young blokes playing. Mark missed midway through, giving John the opening. He promptly missed as well. Finally after twenty-two extra targets, Mark missed and John didn't to win 44/47.
High gun for the shoot went to Steve McIntyre, 190/200 and Peter Simon took his turn to look after the treasurer's blood pressure, taking home the meat tray rather than the shoot raffle money.
Next month is the annual Christmas novelty shoot with the High Gun invitational being the only semi- serious event of the day. Hope to see you there.
