South Coast councils spend almost double their group average on councillor expenditure according to data from the Office of Local Government.

Shoalhaven City Council spent more than double its group average (113 per cent higher) on councillor expenses, Eurobodalla Shire Council was 88 per cent higher and Bega Valley Shire Council 86 per cent higher.
The NSW government recently-launched the "your council" comparison site which measures the performance of council's across the state.
It compares councils by group and categorises councils by their size and geographical location.
Shoalhaven Council is grouped with areas such as Shellharbour, Tweed, Coffs Harbour, Port Stephens and Wollongong.

Eurobodalla Council and Bega Valley Council are grouped together along with Wingecarribee, Albury, Byron, Dubbo and Lismore.
Figures compared by 'your council' include the average ordinary rate, number of code of conduct complaints, general manager remuneration, infrastructure spending and plenty more.
Across the South Coast councils, most of them paid their general manager around the same rate as their group average, with Eurobodalla's GM the only one paid higher at $315,000 compared to the group average of $303,225.
When it came to gender representation on council, the South Coast was doing well.
All of the South Coast councils had a higher per cent of female representation than the state average. In fact, over two-thirds of Bega Valley's councillors were female.
'Your council' data is updated annually and is sourced from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, council reports, state libraries, NSW Environmental Protection Agency and data from other state government bodies.
