Unions said Monday night's "improved" offer from company management, which includes improved wages and conditions including a base increase on wages and payments and allowances satisfying their push for a three per cent increase, comes after "sustained pressure by union members".

The Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union, the Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union and the Electrical Trades Union said last week hundreds of workers were threatening to walk off the job if their demands for better conditions were not met.

AMWU workers had planned to stop work for 24 hours last Friday, with possible further action from their fellow union members this week.

Bega Cheese flagged that the negotiations would likely be referred to the Fair Work Commission for determination in light of the industrial action plans.

However Friday's strike action did not proceed union representatives said.

"Workers have stood strong in demanding respect," AMIEU secretary Patricia Fernandez said on Wednesday.

"They have sent a strong message to Mondelez that they can't take advantage of regional workers, funneling profits away from the local community into the pockets of CEOs and board members."

The new offer also includes improvements in casual worker rights, uniforms for administrative staff, improved sick leave conditions and new domestic violence support for employees.

Union members said the new offer will be put to workers for a formal vote in coming weeks.
