First-term councillor Mitchell Nadin has worked in the role for the past year.
While mayor and deputy mayor positions at council have traditionally been held for two years, when he was voted in last September a motion on his role made it a 12-month term.
Speaking to Australian Community Media on Monday, Cr Nadin said it had been great to have the opportunity to get a better understanding of council process, to work with the mayor and represent her when she required it, and he would be putting his hand up for the position again.
"Serving the community is a privilege so I feel fortunate to be able to do the work I do," he said.
"A highlight has been the fundraising work I did with some friends to raise money to move the MVIC [Merimbula Visitors Information Centre] through a black tie event we held last year.
"Including grants the process raised about $130k so that was a great outcome."
Meanwhile, in other matters before councillors at Wednesday's meeting, phase two of the North Bega sewer project is looking to proceed, which plans to extend council's existing sewer infrastructure as properties are currently reliant on septic and pump-out systems to manage their waste.
Bega Cheese was connected in stage one and about 70 properties aim to be connected under stage two.
Councillors will also be asked to note the delivery of the tourism marketing services over the 2018/19 period and the activity plan for 2019/20.
Council-appointed tourism marketing provider Sapphire Coast Destination Marketing stated in the year ending June 2018 the Sapphire Coast recorded over one million visitors spending $499million and contributing to around 3500 jobs.
Council will meet at the Bega Valley Civic Centre, Bega on Wednesday from 2pm.
