The Bega to Tathra Community Ride is on next Sunday, September 22. Registration is from 7.15am, ride briefing at 8am.
In keeping with the agricultural theme, Norm Pearce and industrious members of the Bega AP&H Society have been putting together a procession to make the event more than just a festival of lycra.
Historical vehicles, a horse or two, displays of vintage cars and tractors from the Bega and District Historical Machinery Club and Sapphire Coast Historical Vehicle Club, and there are rumours there Mite be a giant jar suitable for a big birthday toast.

Ride organisers, the Bega-Tathra Safe Ride group, are excited to hear there will be at least one penny-farthing joining in with a rider decked out in period costume.
And what a ride it will be! Across the Bega River Bridge on the Princes Hwy, with Platinum Traffic Services leading the way, around the Bega shared paths from Kiss's Lagoon to the Bega River Walungari Trail and on to East St. Then back on to the Bega-Tathra Rd, through Jellat Jellat dairy country before heading into Kalaru. The procession will stop at Evans Park and then make the climb up Evans Hill into Tathra. It is all downhill from there, but in a good way, as everyone arrives at the Tathra Hotel.
There are some great prizes brewing with a weekend accommodation at the Tathra Hotel and a family day pass to On The Perch Bird Park among them. Tathra Beach and Bike have added bike hire to the package too.
The ride's fundraising focus is to help schools with bike education activities.
