Parklight will begin with audio-visual projections onto nearby buildings created by the young people of the Bermagui Create and Make Crew.
Expect stories, soundscapes and language. Expect light, dance and movement, glowing orbs and shimmering umbrellas. Expect music, clap sticks, bamboo flute and Japanese taiko.
From 6pm this Friday, September 13, at the Dr McKee Fountain, be led on a one-hour journey weaving through the gardens, watching strange and beautiful things as you go.
The magical event will include performances by COPE, Fling, Mica Mahani and the Haniyami, YuNiOn, Sam and Robyn Martin, and The Navigate Acting Explorers.
The event will culminate in a performance by the wonderful Belun-Malu Choir, recently back from a tour of Timor Leste, a high impact performance by local poet Sassi Nuyum (Meaghan Holt) and a stunning projection from Vivid Sydney on to the gallery wall, before heading inside for the latest exhibition Australian Indian Fijian artist Shivanjani Lal.
This is a free event for the whole family, be sure to dress for the weather.
Then on Saturday, this year's Festival of Open Minds will feature a dynamic group of speakers.
This year's festival theme is 'People with Oomph!', and speakers will include World Vision's Tim Costello, spiritual counselor to executed Bali 9 drug smuggler Myuran Sukumaran Pastor Christie Buckingham, and vision-impaired Triple J newsreader Nas Campanella.
Speakers will also include Aly Khalifa, founder of ocean waste harvesting company Oceanworks, 2016 Rio Paralympian Emma Booth and former Bega High School student and comedian Alasdair Tremblay-Birchall.
A local speakers panel will include Erica Dibden of Tilba Real Dairy, Road Safety Advocate Louise Brand, events entrepreneur Darren Jones, and young Indigenous leaders Warren Foster Jnr and Shaquille Aldridge.
Australia's Ambasador to Sweden will also make an appearance.
Our hearts and minds will be uplifted by interactive music and song from Corinne Gibbons and Damon Davies.
