With less than 24 hours to go until the Stars of Bega dance it out for cancer, firefighter Garry Cooper is a slither away from cracking his $7, 000 target in funds with just over $300 left to raise.

The grooving firefighter's online fundraising tally has had a steady flow ever since fundraising opened up earlier this year in mid June.
He said his profile as a rural fire fighter and use of social media have been the major catalysts for his fundraising success with people donating from as far away as British Columbia in Canada.
Garry said working with dance instructor Sam McGovern has been "unreal" and after 12 weeks of strutting it out he's prepared to bust a move and set the stage on fire.

"It's been an incredibly fun journey so far, I've learnt to tame my two left feet and am ready to show the world what I've got."
Unable to give away any little secrets about tomorrow night's performance - one can only imagine what a firey dance routine awaits the audience.
At the time of printing the seven Bega Valley Stars had raised just over $20,000 in funds for the Cancer Council. Stars of Bega Valley Dance for Cancer will be held at 6pm, Club Sapphire on Saturday, August 31.
