While some scoured the riverbanks looking for local flora and fauna, others enjoyed technological marvels back at "base camp".
The weekend's event was held as part of the Bega Valley Shire's Science Week activities, which also involved a tree-planting day by the Bega River and Wetlands Landcare group (BRAWL) on Sunday, August 18.
Students from various schools got hands-on on Friday, with the general public joining river surveys and enjoying informative presentations as part of the citizen science showcase.
Base camp was the Mumbulla School Hall, where scientists focusing on the natural world were set up, but also the team from Eden Game Development Centre with virtual reality machines and software coding to try out.
The BioBlitz was organised by Atlas of Life in partnership with the Sapphire Coast Science Hub and Bega Valley Shire Council.
