Bega Valley Shire Council is looking for people with an eye to the future who are willing to share their ideas or experiences to inform a commercial land strategy for the shire's towns.
BVSC director of community, environment and planning Alice Howe said a commercial land strategy would provide a framework for the future development of our town centres "that is sympathetic to their unique character".
"the Strategy will also help us to plan opportunities for local economic development and employment generation," Dr Howe said.
"We're looking for community members to join other stakeholders, like chambers of commerce, land and business owners and the property industry, to provide input through workshop participation."
If you are interested in being involved, lodge an expression of interest by Sunday, August 25 via www.begavalley.nsw.gov.au/HaveYourSay.
The council is looking for people who can:
- provide objective feedback and input into the project;
- represent a range of stakeholders;
- represent a balanced cross section of the community.
A maximum of one member from interested groups and bodies will be selected and participation will involve attending a two-hour workshop on either Tuesday, August 27, or Wednesday, August 28.
"The aim of the workshops is to establish an agreed framework for the future development of our town centres using contemporary planning principles that have been successful in creating vibrant and energetic places here in Australia and overseas," Dr Howe said.
Workshops will be held in Bega, Bermagui, Eden, Merimbula, Pambula and Tathra.
