The competition starts with a round robin where each school entered completes four trials.
After that points are allocated and the elimination rounds begin, with 64 NSW schools competing in the first elimination round.
Bega High was up against Radford College in Canberra in the old Cooma Courthouse and after a mammoth three-and-a-half hour trial its team narrowly won.
The competition is now down to 32 schools, of which only 10 are public schools and of these Bega is one of two located outside metropolitan Sydney.
In round two of elimination, the Bega team will travel to Canberra on Wednesday, August 14 where they will defend a civil case against Scots School, Albury.
