The Bega Valley Civic Centre is exploding with colour and creativity as the Sapphire Coast Learning Community officially opened its biennial art show Wednesday morning.
Over the past three months students from primary and secondary schools from all over the Far South Coast have been exploring their artistic voices creating a huge range of diverse artworks for the show in line with the Education Week theme "Every Student Every Voice."
The result is a creatively inspiring show, jam packed with over 450 pieces of art.
Merimbula Public School principal and co-coordinator of the show Michelle Hulme said as well as art being a whole lot of fun, the visual arts gives students the opportunity to engage in another language.
"Engaging in arts and creativity allows children to express themselves in a whole other language. The creative freedom allows them to shine and explore ideas in different ways," she said.
"It also results in a culmination of beautiful artworks on display for all to enjoy and a show the kids are proud to share with the public."

Ms Hulme said the show also showcased the wide array of skill sets teachers, staff and creatives of the region pass onto students. And public art events like the Bermagui Sculpture by the Sea have an important influence for student's creative interests.
"It opens up a whole new world and sends a positive message about art making - that it is accessible and can be done," she said.
Like Sculpture by the Sea, the works on display will be judged by local artists including photographer Angi High.
Categories included: sculpture, drawing and painting, printmaking and etching, photography, mixed media, digital imagery and fibre crafts.
The award presentation will be held at 4pm on Friday, August 9.
"Every Student Every Voice" SCLC Art Show is open at the Bega Valley Civic Centre from 9am until 5pm for three days only. The show closes at 5pm on Friday, August 9.
