Keeping them flying
Unlike Bega Valley Council, Kempsey Shire Council has done everything humanly possible to keep AIAC circuit training, an absolute nightmare, including flying on public holidays and extended hours of operation while denying the local Flying Club the same conditions. All we have to look forward to in our retirement is the sound of aero-engines from 7am onwards every day except Christmas Day, and simulated engine failures over our heads, over our schools, over our organic farms, and over our nursing homes. AIAC has repeatedly broken the rules with no rebuff from Kempsey Council.

Considerate traveller
In reply to the letter "rant about Rex".
Airlines albeit domestic/international can run late, especially due to weather. Fog is such a common occurrence. Crew and passenger safety is paramount. Rex doesn't decide when they can fly, that comes from air traffic control. The Rex service running four hours late is not a cancellation of the service, so for Rex to contact all passengers would be a huge administrative cost and hence higher airfares. We are so fortunate to have the Rex service from Merimbula to Sydney/Melbourne numerous times a week, and booking in advanced can make the fare cheaper.
A consideration for travellers would be take the Rex flight the day before your international departure, spend the additional $189 for accommodation, which can be 35 flat walking steps from the international check-in counter in Sydney and your overseas holiday would be off to a very relaxed and stress free start.
In the overall expenditure of an overseas holiday, $189 is a small output to relieve any stress of not being at the international check-in counter in plenty of time.

Don't deny driver access
Do not deny driver access to the Light to Light Walk. These particular spots are very precious to a large number of people, locals and visitors. Do not deny a very large number of people the right to enjoy these areas for the enjoyment and enrichment of a few. I am sure you can enhance the walkers' experience without dramatically changing what has been working very well for a long time. If they want the beach to themselves keep walking till you get to Newtons Beach.

RMS misleading
The RMS is being misleading in their quoted replies to questions on the Mount Darragh Rd speed limit reductions.
QUOTE: "provides recommendations to reduce the speed of certain sections on Mount Darragh Rd".
READ: "have recommended to reduce the speed of the entire 58km between South Pambula to Cathcart, except Wyndham village (already 50)."
QUOTE: "Currently, the recommendations are not confirmed and any plans for implementation are subject to gaining final approval."
READ: "the RMS assessment has already been completed without consulting the locals and the recommendation to reduce the speed limit along the entire length (except Wyndham village) has already been sent to Minister Constance for final sign off."
Locals know that vast bulk of bad accidents on Mt Darragh Rd have been on the winding and mountainous sections of the road. Speed limit reductions on these winding sections may be warranted but road improvements certainly are!
However, the current outrage in the local community is over reducing the limits on the 27.5km of wide open stretches of the road where 100 is easy and has been shown to be safe. Some locals have already trialled doing their commute at the new lower speeds and report it being "murder" and a reason to rethink living here.
