Out of the 58 locations monitored by NRMA's Bowser Buster, in the week ending on July 7 Bega tied with Bulahdelah for the most expensive average price for regular unleaded petrol in the state, at 153.1cents per litre.
When it came to diesel, Bega had the fourth most expensive average price in the state at 154.8cpl.
There was a 24.5cpl difference between Bega and the cheapest average price for regular unleaded, which was to be found in Sydney at 128.6cpl.
For diesel, the cheapest average price was in Gunnedah at 142.7cpl.
The NRMA's weekly petrol report stated last week in regional NSW average regular unleaded prices fell .5cpl while diesel prices were stable.
But in Bega, the average regular unleaded price increased by .3cpl from 152.8cpl the week before.
Last week, Sydney's Terminal Gate Price for regular unleaded increased .8cpl to 128.3cpl.
A media spokesperson for the NRMA said global oil prices continued to trend upwards last week due to the growing uncertainty associated with lower forecasts of global economic growth.
Also, heightened US-Iranian tensions boosted prices at the end of the week.
