Mr Brady tackled some tough issues in a fun and entertaining way, talking about his experiences and sharing some practical tips for dealing with the pressures and challenges that farmers face day today.

"It was a good reminder to all of us to put things into perspective and remember what's really important in life," Ash Rood, dairy farmer and chair of the Far South Coast Dairy Development Group, said.

"While the health of the business is always on our minds, it's so important to focus on ourselves occasionally."

Neil Waterson, a local beef producer and member of the Farmers Network, agreed.

"Connection with other people is so important," he said.

"We farmers work alone a lot of the time and can sometimes forget that we aren't alone in facing farming challenges.

"It was so good to get together and acknowledge the human side and give people the opportunity to come together, relax and get out of that head space for a night.

"Neville's serious messages delivered with humour certainly hit home."

The event was organised by the Far South Coast Dairy Development Group and the Far South Coast Farmers Network with support from South East Local Land Services as an opportunity for farmers to get off the farm and connect with other farmers in an informal and relaxed setting.

"It was really pleasing to see the mix of dairy, beef and sheep producers, as well as a few Bodalla dairy farmers in the room," Local Land Services agriculture adviser Andrew Taylor said.

Funding for the event was from Bega Valley Shire Council's grant through the Drought Communities Program from the Federal Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, Bega Cheese, Coordinare, Mitta Valley Beef Co-op through then Bega Valley Beef Co-op with support from Local Land Services.
