A 37-girl roster has been named for the squad with nine players from the Far South Coast making the grade including Zali Lavender, Kaylee and Abbie Trenerry, Yasmin Welsford, Amy Wells, Jessie Mudaliar, Jade Allen, Janet King and Jemma Pollack.

Cricket promoter Dave Allen said it was quite a coup for the local association.

"FSC has nine of the 37, which is a great representation and underlines the strength of the women's game in our area," Allen said.

The Academy, which is made up of players from 13-18 will be one of seven across the state highlighting the growth of the pathways in country cricket for female players.

The squads will begin training in the first week of the July school holidays at the brand-new women's facility at Penshurst Park in Sydney's South.

Cricket NSW female talent manager, Steve Jenkin, said numbers for the Country squads had grown significantly in the last 12 months.

"Each of the Country Academy squads increased by about 10 to 15 players, and that was after about 400 nominations throughout the rural and regional areas," he said.

"With the Under 13 State Challenge being in place now, the academies take on a greater importance, and I think that will work well.

"The academies are vital to developing a pool of players for the future selection of Under 15 and 18 squads at national championship leve.

"Without that depth, performance at the higher levels suffer."

They will be training both in Canberra and also having a few sessions in Merimbula as they get ready for the upcoming season.

Further to the success of the area's female players, three boys have also been selected for the ACT/Southern as part of the men's Academy squad.

Jakome Roberts-Charlton, Zak Keogh and Tom Keller have all earned a spots in the 18-strong outfit.

"The boys had a session at the new ACT High Performance Centre in Canberra a few weeks ago, and will continue to train right up to the start of the season," Allen said.

And another addition to the FSC highlight reel is former Bega and Bermagui player Jack Allen's elevation to the NSW CHS team to tour England later this month.

The team will contest 11 games over a three-week visit where they will visit Wimbledon and get to watch Australia contest two World Cup matches.

His selection comes on the back of captaining the South Coast side at the Championships in Armidale.
