Located at Taylors Square, it features an all-inclusive carousel, a giant basket swing and inclusive swing, an inclusive trampoline and an inclusive flying fox.

"The entire playground has been designed according to the NSW Everyone Can Play guidelines," a Bega Valley Shire Council spokesperson said.

"All pathways are designed to be inclusive and two picnic tables are accessible."

The much-loved green dragon has also been reinstalled.

Last June, the NSW government announced it would contribute $600,000 towards the planning, design and construction of the playground, with council contributing the human resources of project management and supervision.

But in disappointing news, on June 18 council announced it had been vandalised before it was even opened.

Either one person or multiple people had entered the fenced construction zone and caused minor damage to the rubber softfall that needed to be repaired and was estimated to cost $1500, as well as caused minor damage to the timber bridges which only needed restraining to repair.

"The project manager has spoken to Bega Police to ask that they assist council with patrols of the area," the spokesperson said.

Bega Valley Shire Mayor Kristy McBain said the playground was an integral part of the Tathra community and she was sure it would become the centre of activity in the area again.

"We are grateful to the NSW state government, our local member Andrew Constance MP and the commissioner for Open Space and Parklands Fiona Morrison for the $600,000 contribution to this amazing playground in Tathra utilising the 'Everyone can Play guidelines," she said.

"It's a great addition to the shire and we look forward to creating more playgrounds across the shire under the same principles."

The council spokesperson said there had been no announcement of when construction would start to improve playgrounds at Cobargo Apex Park, Bemboka Bicentennial Park, Wyndham Memorial Park and Tathra Lions Park, but these projects would become a priority in July.

The Everyone Can Play Playspace will open at Taylors Square, Tathra, next to the town's skatepark on Saturday, June 22 from 11am to 12.30pm.

There will be face painting and a sausage sizzle, and it will be attended by Member for Bega Andrew Constance and Mayor Kristy McBain.
