A Bega man will appeal a two-year prison sentence for breaking into a Bega clothing shop late last year.
In Bega Local Court on Tuesday, June 18, Magistrate Doug Dick sentenced 42-year-old Matthew James Evans of Meringo St in Bega to two years in jail with a non-parole period of 12 months.
Evans, who is currently in custody in Nowra's South Coast Correctional Centre, had pleaded not guilty to breaking into Boutique Men's and Boutique Lifestyle on Carp St in Bega between New Year's Eve 2018 and January 2 this year.
He was found guilty during this week's hearing and, as well as the two-year sentence, was ordered by the court to pay $500 in compensation.
A 47-year-old Bega woman has pleaded not guilty to receiving stolen goods taken during the break and enter, which included jewellery, wallets, backpacks, handbags, clothing and an iPad. She will face Bega Local Court on August 14.
