The Sea Eagles cruised to victory against the Whalers 24-17-161 to 3-3-21, but the scoreline also projected the team ahead of the Narooma Lions and Pambula Panthers after the weekend.
All three teams sit evenly on 16 competition points, while the Diggers are now four points clear atop the ladder with 20 competition points.
Similarly to recent rounds, the Whalers kept the Sea Eagles in check early, but couldn't maintain pace with the Tathra outfit in the later stages of play.
Tathra led by a minimal 21-12 margin at the first break, but had extended to 53-21 by the main break.
It was actually in the second half of play that the home team hit their straps, piling on a 50-point third quarter before driving home the comfortable win with 61 points in the final quarter.
Possession came frequently out of the middle contests and play began to boil down to a race for points between Tathra's forward attackers.
Adam Blacka bagged nine goals for the home side, while Louis Coulton was hot on his heels with eight majors for the day.
Luke Taylor, Craig Matthews and Tom Lipsham were among the best for Tathra, ensuring the forward duo got plenty of ball in the attack.
The Eaglettes also carded a win over Eden in an extremely low-scoring affair where both sides only scored one goal apiece.
It boiled down to behinds with Tathra bagging nine to defeat the Whalers 1-9-15 to 1-5-11
