Club officials said there were already entries from 24 men and 21 women from around the world for the Open Events for the Kia Motors Australian Open to be held July 3-7 in Bega and are now calling for entries from locals to take up the unique opportunity to Play in an Australian Open Squash Event.
A graded tournament will be held at the Bega Country Club Courts on July 6-7 with all ages and abilities able to enter.
Entry covers a minimum of three matches, access to watch the Open Semis and Finals, and the opportunity to have dinner with the professional entrants and officials.
Bega Squash Club president John Stylianou had earlier said it was a major coup for the club to win hosting rights this year.
"This is a massive deal, it's the Australian title and a major international event," Mr Stylianou said.
"With an event of this calibre we'll be anticipating entries from more than a dozen countries around the globe.
"This is an incredible result for a small club like ours."
Officials said they had not forgotten their regional roots though and were still eager to provide a wonderful tournament for the many Bega Valley players and visitors who frequent the Open each year.
The Open will be a showcase of international talent on a local stage, Mr Stylianou said. For information on how to enter check out the Bega Squash Club's website or Facebook page.
