Eight supported clients have received statements of attainment for food handling, after attending a two-day course at Bega TAFE.

Tulgeen's enterprise manager Dave Akehurst said it was a huge success and he had received positive comments about it from the clients.

"It enables our supported employees to develop skills and also offers them training and development and the ability to seek open employment in the local community," he said.

It has also opened up a relationship with TAFE for further training, social disability enterprises and to further develop the employee base.

"We're looking to do more work alongside TAFE and other training organisations in the short term," Mr Akehurst said.

Tulgeen CEO Jen Russell said the supported clients also worked in a packaging service with Bega Cheese, which is one reason why it was important they obtained their food safety certificates, and the "whole enterprise would not have happened without" the company.
