Accused double-murderer Murray Deakin will be arraigned on Friday, June 7 to stand trial in the NSW Supreme Court accused of two counts of murder and one count of grievous bodily harm with intent to murder.
The 20-year-old pleaded not guilty in December due to what his lawyer said were "reasons of mental illness", and has been remanded in custody since his arrest on the night of the alleged murders.
Soon after his arrest Deakin told Batemans Bay court he was "so sorry" for his actions and spoke of his "family history of schizophrenia" and his use of "psychedelic drugs".
Police allege Deakin stabbed his grandmother Gail Winner and his grandfather Thomas Winner at their East Street home in Bega on the afternoon of June 1, 2018.
He is also alleged to have attacked retired Merimbula police officer Mick Horne an hour later during an alleged carjacking with a hammer while on the run from police.
Sixty-nine-year-old Ms Winner died at the South East Regional Hospital while her 71-year-old husband arrived at Canberra Hospital in a critical condition before later being released.
Mr Horne died from his injuries at St George Hospital in Sydney on June 3.
Deakin will be arraigned by Justice Elizabeth Fullerton on June 7 to face trial at a later date.
