It was teammate against teammate on Saturday in Canberra when the Far South Coast/Cooma Red Falcons U14 Girls took on newcomers Canberra Grammar School.

The Red Falcons are made up of players from the Cooma Red Devils and Far South Coast Falcons Rugby Union Clubs, participating in the ACT and SNSW Rugby Union Junior Girls 10s series.
The young Falcons played an entertaining match last Saturday in Canberra, well and truly controlling the game from kick off till final whistle, running out thumping victors to the tune of 85 points to 15 over Canberra Grammar School. After the previous weeks close loss to Wests Rugby Club, the team worked hard throughout the week to improve on their previous weeks performance and were looking for redemption.
Most impressively the Falcons showed vast improvement overall, but especially in cohesive team play, match intensity and gained confidence in their own ability on both sides of the ball. Due to a lack of numbers the Red Falcons loaned players to Canberra Grammar and it was time for teammates to test their metal against friend and foe alike. The sportsmanship and desire to do well (whatever team the girls were playing on) was excellent, showing the character of the girls who make up the Red Falcons.
Tries for the Red Falcons proper were scored by Emily Quodling (Cooma) who picked up a hat-trick, Jess Howarth (Bega) romped in five, India Dyball (Cooma) one try and five glorious conversions, Abby Christison (Bega) one try, Luka Hutcheson (Narooma) scored another hat-trick of tries, Jordana Breden (Cooma) one try and Erin Trevanion (Cooma) scored an amazing try after catching a pass one handed and behind her back like any future Wallaroo would.
Jane Hudson (Narooma) was instrumental and played particularly well, delivering some beautiful passes in flowing backline movements. Red Falcon Clara Thornton (Cooma) scored twice for Canberra Grammar while on loan, showing her hunger for the white chalk. Emily Quodling also pulled one off for Grammar, during her turn on the other side of the field.
Newcomers to the side Abby Douch (Cooma), Rubi Williams (Cooma), Belle Adams (Cooma), Belle Vaughan (Tathra) and Bridie Stafford (Tathra) showed they've got the right stuff to shine in upcoming games and are excellent additions to the Red Falcons unit.
The U14 Red Falcons play their next match in Cooma on1 June against last years Under 14 Premiers - Vikings Rugby Club. Both sides played in 2018's Grand Final and the rematch this year is shaping to be another epic encounter between these two well fancied teams.
