The work of local firefighters during the tragic 2018 bushfire has been recognised at the highest level.
A Commissioner's certificate of Commendation was recently presented to the Bega Valley fire brigades following the fire that impacted Tathra and its district on March 18, 2018.
The award was presented at the 20th NSW Rural Fire Service St Florian's Day, Internal Bravery and Service Awards Ceremony in Sydney.
"Displaying courage and support to the community, these members played a significant role in the protection of lives and property," NSW Rural Fire Service commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said.
The award recognises service or outstanding actions in relation to fire service duties, administrative leadership, or exemplary performance of a specific project or task.
