Now in its ninth year the Tathra Beach and Bike Enduro inspires people to jump on a bike and test their skills and endurance on the winding bush tracks around Tathra.
Tathra MTB Club president Andy Johnson says the focus of the weekend is not just racing, with plenty of events encouraging participation.
Johnson says the Lap-It-Up events - whose distances range from 5km-20km, give those new to mountain biking the chance to ride fun trails in a safe environment without the pressure of racing.
"The Lap-It-Up events are perfect for children, adults or families who are just gaining their confidence on the narrow single tracks," he says.
Johnson says the lap distance for Saturday's ride is five kilometres, so riders can opt to do one lap or four depending upon their level of fitness. "The ride is all about having a go - not who is the fastest."
Lap-It-Up racing takes place on Saturday afternoon, June 8 along with the Bega Cheese Children's Chase, a free event for children.
The rides are a curtain raiser for the main Tathra MTB Enduro events, which take place on the Sunday and include the more challenging King Nelba 75km, Mitas 50km and Tuff 25km.
Whilst these events require more skill and endurance, Johnson says they have this year also included an E-Bike category to broaden the appeal.
"EBikes have gained in popularity over the past few years, as more people discover the advantages of battery assistance to conquer hills".
"They have also made our tracks more accessible and this year they are welcome to enter the Lap It Up events and also have categories in Sunday's events."
The event will still draw riders from across NSW and inter-state.
Over 400 people are expected to ride in this year's Enduro and the club is still hard at work preparing the tracks.
