Around $2000 was raised for Bega Valley Can Assist, a charity organisation supporting regional and rural families affected by cancer.
Organiser Lori Hammerton said all of the money raised will go towards financially assisting people in the Bega Valley affected by cancer.
"If people are sick it can be difficult for them to meet costs. The money assists in paying bills, pharmacy, travel and accommodation. Helping out financially relieves some of the stress," Ms Hammerton said.
According to Ms Hammerton the concert went off with a bang. Audiences were treated to an afternoon of top country music from interstate and local musicians.
"There was a real mix of variety, ranging from Slim, Merle Haggard right through to Gina Jeffreys."
Award winning local act Michelle Russell took to the stage backed by well known local Steve Martin on guitar. They performed a mixture of covers and originals. Other highlights included highly regarded Bega musician Matt Preo and interstate act 'The Travelin' Country Two' from Leongatha, Victoria.
The afternoon ended with "a big country jam" with all artists including veteran accordion player 93-year-old Murray Douch on stage.
The country music concert was the third fundraiser Ms Hammerton has organised this year. And there are still more to come. The next big fundraiser will be in October.
"Wallaga Lake Park will run a big ukelele hootananny and will match dollar for dollar all funds raised for Can Assist, " Ms Hammerton said. Ukelele players were welcome to contact Lori Hammerton if they would to take part, hammer@southernphone.com.au.
