Organiser Jo Collins said thanks to the incredible generosity of local farmers, the Candelo campdraft would be one of the few going ahead this year.
"We're very lucky that we have a lot of dairy farmers that support us and donate their cattle for the event," Ms Collins said.
"Over half the campdrafts this year have been cancelled and we really can't thank our cattle donors enough for their support."
The Candelo campdraft is locked in for the weekend of May 4-5, but it had been something of a flurry to coordinate.
Ms Collins said the Candelo event had been in doubt until about six weeks ago when the Bega Valley finally had a splash of rain relief.
And organisers have now been bombarded with entries from out of state competitors.
"We've had to restrict the amount of runs per person so that we could accommodate more competitors," Ms Collins said.
"Campdrafting is such a wonderful progressive sport that people are willing to travel more than eight hours to take part.
"We will have riders from Victoria, ACT and all over NSW."
Ms Collins said it was the quickest growing equestrian sport in the country because males and females compete on equal terms and riders are welcome from almost any age.
"It's open to everyone, we have riders from their teens into their 70s," she said.
And the two-day competition is set to be action-packed with about 600 individual runs scheduled.
The influx of visitors and enormous field of entries has also brought Candelo into the limelight at a time when many farming communities are struggling.
"It's great for our area to be able to welcome so many visitors and this year particularly we're working to give back to the community," Ms Collins said.
"The raffle proceeds from the weekend will go to the pre-school."
And everyone is encouraged to patronise supporting businesses.
"We're trying to organise meetings and utilize those businesses as a way of giving back in appreciation of their support," Ms Collins said.
Organisers are also continuing work with the Candelo Showground Committee to try and best improve the grounds year after year.
Spectators are welcome with a community barbecue and coffee and ice cream vans on site.
"Everyone is very welcome, we love everyone coming out to embrace Candelo," Ms Collins said.
