Organisers said conditions were near perfect for the two rounds on the day, which opened with a 25-target double barrel at 16 metres. 

The second round was a 75-target champion of champions at 18 metres. 

Phil Body and Peter Englebrecht were hard to beat in the opening round, finishing level and going to the traps for a shootoff where it took an extra 27 targets to separate the pair. 

Body emerged as the winner with a flawless 52/52 to Englebrecht's 51. 

In B grade, the venerable John Seide, showed the younger members the way, winning the round with a flawless 25/25.

Brian Moffit, Keith Pearce, John Walker and Zip Summerell took another seventeen targets to decide second place, with Walker emerging on top with 36/37.

C grade went to George Adamopoulos with a fine 25/25, one target up on Chris Brown 24/25.

The Champion of Champions event comprised a 25-target double barrel, 25-target single barrel and a 25-target point-score, with each squad facing the traps three times to test them across a number of classes.

Craig Field shot consistently across the three rounds to win AA/A grade with a score of 115/125 with Phil Body in second just two back on 113/125.

In B grade, Keith Pearce took the honours with a steady 109/125 to finish one point up from runner-up Brian Moffit with 108/125.

In C grade, Chris Brown and George Adamopoulos swapped positions from the first event with Chris on 108/125, to George's 105/125.

Overall winner went to Tony Gray who compiled a fine 120/125 to take the Champion of Champions prize.

Gray also added to his great day by winning the Shoot High Gun award with a classy 144/150.

With the smaller than usual field, presentations were concluded by club president Phil Body and vice-president Shane Platts with officials saying entrants were home in time to watch the Sunday footy.

Officials said it was great to see the close competition across the grades and said it was remarkable to see the number of shoot-offs required to separate the packs. 

Particularly the strong finish in B grade was incredible result on the day. 

The club's next monthly shoot meet will be held on Sunday, May 5. 

The headline event for that meet will be the second round of the Fimac Engineering Handicap Shield.

Supporting events will be a 50-target double barrel point-score and a 25-target single barrel.

The club once again thanks long-standing supporter of the Fimac events in Shane Platts for continuing to back the meet.
