A sculpture by a Bombala-based artist has hopped its way into the hearts of Colorado locals thanks to the Bega-Littleton sister city relationship.

The steel kangaroo and joey artwork by Pat Lomas was gifted to the Littleton City Council during the regular citizens exchange in August last year.
The sculpture is made of rebar and stands just over four feet tall.
It has now been given a permanent home in Bega Park in continued recognition of the long-standing sister city relationship, the first in Australia.
Littleton City Council featured the sculpture's addition to Bega Park in a recent publication to their residents, saying a granite base is also scheduled to be installed that will feature an engraved plaque celebrating the longstanding friendship and partnership between the two cities.
In return, the Littleton Council gifted Bega a park bench with a plaque that reads: "True friends are never apart. Maybe in distance, but never in heart. To Bega From Littleton 2018."
In August 1961, then-editor of the Bega District News Curly Annabel took four young people from Bega to Littleton for Western Welcome Week. Thereafter the custom was established for Littleton to send a delegation on the first and sixth year of the decade, and for a Bega group to visit Littleton on the third and eighth year.
