The series of free workshops for young people ages 14 to 20 will use music, digital technology and video, and will be led by a number of established artists in a variety of disciplines.
The first introductory workshop will be held on Thursday, April 18 at the Bega TAFE campus in Barrack St, Bega from 10am to 3pm. Lunch will be provided.
Scott Baker will lead digital media, Jazz Williams will teach songwriting and Kyle Wilson will teach videography.
The young participants will be invited to create a pitch to their peers on healthy lifestyles, partying safely and harm minimisation using song, digital technology, photography and video media.
The workshops are an opportunity for young people to grow their creative and team building skills, as well as their resume.
"The best alcohol and drug harm minimisation messages are created by young people themselves," Project 8 coordinator Gabrielle Powell said.
"Through community consultation and building a greater understanding of the evidence base for alcohol and other drug-related harm minimization, we will be focusing on increasing resilience in local youth by helping them to create new messages."
There will be a series of eight workshops over the year, run in Bega, Eden and Cobargo during school holidays in April, July and September/October.
Young people can choose to continue participating in other workshops during the year.

Project 8 was made possible by grant of $21,900 from the Australian government through the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, led by South East Arts in partnership with the Local Drug Action Team (LDAT) and other agencies, aimed at preventing and reducing alcohol and other drug-related harms at a grassroots level.
The funding, which is on top of an initial $10,000 received by the community partnership, supports the implementation of the LDAT's Community Action Plan.
