SOUTH Coast motorists have paid more than $850,000 in parking fines so far this financial year, new data shows.

The latest figures from Revenue NSW reveal that from July to January, 4552 infringement notices worth a combined total of $850,410 were issued to motorists who over-stayed in parking spots.
The vast majority of fines were issued in Shoalhaven, with that local government area recording more than four times the number of infringements compared to any other area on the South Coast.
During the seven-month period, 3403 parking fines were issued to motorists in Shoalhaven, which raised $641,858 for council coffers.
This was the equivalent of more than $3000 every single day in fines.
During the same time in Eurobodalla, 794 fines worth $146,843 were issued.
In Kiama, motorists have handed over $44,546 in fines thanks to 262 infringement notices issued during the seven-month period.
While in Bega Valley, just 93 fines worth $17,163 have been handed out to motorists who overstay the time limit of the parking spot.
