As a committee we fully understand that people are at very different stages in their recovery journey and we hope that this latest allocation will provide a timely boost.
- Bega Valley Shire Council mayor Kristy McBain
According to Bega Valley Shire Council, over $1.5million has been donated to the Mayoral Appeal Fund in the 12 months since the bushfire, with around three quarters distributed to the community.
Information on council's website show's almost 90 per cent of the fund has been spent by the Independent Advisory Panel, with council announcing a fifth round of financial distribution on Wednesday.
Council said the new round will be "aimed at those who were most severely impacted by the disaster, specifically owner/occupiers and tenants whose homes were destroyed or declared permanently uninhabitable".
Mayor Kristy McBain said eligible residents will be contacted directly and donations to the fund can still be made.
"As a committee we fully understand that people are at very different stages in their recovery journey and we hope that this latest allocation will provide a timely boost," Cr McBain said.
Council said "a small residual balance" will be kept for residents who "may contact the committee in the future".
