Pre-season optimism was washed away at a rain-lashed Robina on Sunday as Gold Coast slumped to a disappointing 21-0 loss at home to Canberra.

Arrow knows the performance against the Raiders was unacceptable, but wasn't getting too distraught.

"We're not going to panic. It's only round one," the Queensland State of Origin representative said.

"It's definitely a long season, I found that out last year.

"We'll be better, I can guarantee that. It's time to stop talking now and put the talk to action."

Perhaps reflecting his no panic attitude to the loss, Arrow said he went home from Cbus Super Stadium and enjoyed a good night's sleep.

The 23-year-old has put a renewed focus on looking after himself this year and says part of that is ensuring he gets enough rest to recover from a bruising first grade encounter.

"I was in bed straight after the game ... and I fell asleep pretty quick where usually I can't really sleep after a game," he said.

"It's obviously good signs for me there. Just keep doing that and hopefully that works."

The Titans head to Sydney this Saturday to face crisis club Cronulla and Arrow said a repeat of Sunday's showing by the Titans would once again prove costly.

"They've always got a good forward pack and they've always got strike around the park," he said.

"We want to be up for the challenge and we've got to be otherwise we'll just let them roll us."
