On Sunday, March 17, events will be held for the community to remember these bushfires.
A bushwalk will take place from Thompsons to Taylor Square in Tathra. Meet at Mahogany Rd, Thompsons for an 8am start. It is a 50-75min walk. There is no parking at Thompsons so a shuttle bus will leave from Taylor Square near the Tathra Surf Life Saving Club from 7.30am.
The terrain will include Thompsons and Tathra verge, fire roads and mountain bike track. Bring a hat, sunscreen and water. A first aid officer will be on the walk.
The bus can follow part of the route for those wanting to join, but unable to walk.
A mountain bike ride will also take place. Meet at the Tathra Country Club at 7.30am for an 8am start.
All riders need a helmet and water. There is no support aside from first aid. The ride will be on single tracks.
A tree planting will occur on Tathra Headland from 9.30-11am.
The briefing for the planting will start at 9.30am.
The shuttle bus will leave from Taylor Square to the headland at 9am.
Bring your own hats, gloves, sunscreen and water.
Also, from 10am-1pm gather at Taylor Square for for music, a jumping castle, and a free barbecue.
The Bega District Band and other live music will perform.
The official thanks will take place from 11.45am-12pm. A water station will be available and the event will be held in the surf club if it is raining.
