Thirty-two eager shooters turned up for the three event program of the March shoot at Bega Gun Club on Sunday.
The club welcomed a small group of Bermagui Field and Game members to try their hand at down the line as well as visitors from Cooma, Tumut and Bombala.
The first event of the day was a 40T point score, with 20 targets on each stand. AA Grade saw Alf Niesar put in the score of the round, winning with a tally of 116/120, one up on Alan Deacon. A Grade went to Col Sheehan with another good score of 114/120, with Cooma regular Steve McIntyre second on 110/120. B Grader John Walker used only one second in the second half to win with 115/120, just one target up on Lindsay Blewitt. Chris Brown continued his good return to the sport with a 112/120 to win C grade.
Round two was a 40T double barrel Continental. In AA Grade, Deacon made light of the recent limited shooting he has been able to fit in to clean the lot, 40/40. Phil Green and Alf Niesar took another 18 targets to decide second, with Alf taking the honours 56/58. A Grade saw Phil Body doing the 40/40 honours, one target ahead of Steve McIntyre. B Grade saw Bert Deacon, Lindsay Blewitt and Mal O’Brien finish on 37/40. After a further 20 targets, Mal emerged victorious 56/60 to Lindsay’s 55/60. C grade saw a reversal of the first round results with George Adamopoulos winning with 36/40 to Chris Brown’s 34/40.
The final event was a 25T Continental single barrel. Once again, Niesar cleaned up AA Grade with a score of 29/30. McIntyre added to his collection for the day by winning A grade with a score of 23/25. Malcolm O’Brien and Lindsay Blewitt took one extra target to sort out B Grade after they both finished on 24/25 after the main event. Lindsay hit and Mal missed. Chris Brown again featured in C Grade, winning with a score of 21/25.
High gun for the day went to Alan Deacon with a score of 188/195. Next month's shoot on April 7 is a 75T Champion of Champions off 18metres and 25T DB.
