Competitors Tamerah Boffa, Alicia Gauld and 16-year-old Rhythm Marshall from the Bega, Candelo and Eden Kokoro Kai Goju karate dojos have returned from recent championships with some glistening silverware. 

A long weekend of competition began at the 2019 NSW Karate Federation Allstyles Karate Championships at the Whitlam Leisure Centre in Liverpool on March 2.

The trio are seeking a place on the NSW squad, and between them took home two silver, two bronze and a fourth place.

Shihan Robert Graham said black belt Boffa, brown belt Gauld and purple belt Marshall all have a strong chance of pushing for state selection.

"Every three weeks they drive to Sydney for state training and if they perform well in competitions they could be selected," he said.

"It's a big ask for them, and a big drain of money.

"They most definitely have a chance, if not now then next year."

It was Marshall's first competition, and Shihan Graham was full of praise for the teenager who took out fourth place.

"I think he's marvelous. He came up against some of the strongest fighters in the state," he said.

The trio were then joined by Lachlan Charlton-Seaman, Andrew Pamplin and Ryan Marsh for two competitions in the ACT on March 3 and 4.

Sensei Graham Cooper, who assists in training the group, also joined the dojo tour to Sydney and the nation's capital.

Shihan Graham said the group performed well across the entire weekend, despite the intensity of the competition.

"It was pretty full on mate, especially when you get hit hard," Shihan Graham said.

At the National Allstyle Karate competition at the Australian Institute of Sport on March 4, the group took home two bronze medals, eleven silver and eleven gold.

"I was trying not to jump up and down, I was pretty excited," Shihan Graham said.

"They are a credit to our community. They're good people.

"They just do their job and come home.

"It makes me pretty darn happy."
